Have you visited my other site, The Stressed Mom?
I founded Living the Balanced Life due to the personal and professional struggles I dealt with over the years.
You can read more about my personal life and struggles below.
To learn more about my previous professional experience, and where my journey has led me, read more about my Professional Background here.
My Family
I am a woman in my mid-forties. I have 4 young adult/adult children from 17-28, one son-in-law, 2 significant others, and we recently added grandchild number 7! Family gatherings at my house are exciting to say the least! I got pregnant at the age of 15 and married my husband, we will celebrate our 30th anniversary in June, 2011. I have strived to be a good mother, a good wife, a good person. I have learned many things along the way and I still have a lot to learn. I have dealt with depression, perfectionism, and personal near-death tragedies.
The months October 2009-October 2010 have been very hard on me and my family. You will be able to read my first posts after the launch to get some background on what has brought me to this place.
Living the Balanced Life is to be a resource for helping women AND men do the needed things to take care of themselves. We are always so busy taking care of everyone else, we neglect ourselves. We must address these areas, or our mind and bodies will eventually rebel, depending on the severity of your personal situation.
In my blog, I will provide information in the 8 different topic areas, as well as recommend and provide for purchase, resources that I feel can help you in your journey towards balance. My hope is to eventually, as my own healing process allows, create my own products and services to help you as well.
To read more about what brought me to this place, below are a couple of posts with my story-
My Story Part 1- Quest for a Balanced Life
My Story Part 2- Dream Job on Overload
I also have a personal blog where I share personal ramblings, appropriately titled, Ramblings of a Woman. Feel free to visit me there as well!

Thanx, your story is encouraging.

Bernice, what a brilliant blog this is! I did the priority exercise and it is uncannily accurate. I also downloaded your priority list and have sorted that out too. What impresses me is that although I must have read hundreds of books about priorities, this is the first one that has made it so simple. Your photo reminds me of my daughter who is about your age so it cheers me up whenever I look at it!
I have subscribed via RSS and look forward to exploring more.

Hi Bernice, I am now 53 and have struggled through some periods of depression. Luckily found a forum to get to the real thoughts that dragged me down and have set up strategies to help me such as daily journal writing, gratitude, doing more of what I love everyday. I noted that I could reel off lists of things my family loved and used them to lift and inspire them and when I turned this onto myself I couldn’t answer. Since then I have written lists of things that bring me joy, and how simple are they. cheers
Wendy
