The waiting game
We’ve all played it.
When I lose 20 pounds, I’ll start dating again.
When I get my career all together, then we will have a baby.
When I get that new job, we’ll finally take a vacation.
When I get my life figured out, I will start that business.
When my kids are older, I’ll be able to do the things I want.
When I get my life straightened out, I will start going to church.
When I get my house cleaned up and painted and get new furniture, we can invite friends over.
One that my hubby and I used quite a bit when we were younger is “when we get caught up, we’ll ______________”.
Don’t wait, for life may pass you by…
So many of us are waiting for the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, what you may find is that when you finally reach the end of the tunnel… your life happened inside.
Do the things you want to do NOW.
Start today.
Take baby steps.
Just DO something.

I definitely fall victim to this game. As I get older though, time feels like it’s going by so fast that the fear of NOT doing is overtaking my need to be perfect. My new mantra is to “fail forward faster”, learn from it, and move on.

Since we arrived here in Belize we have doing this a lot. When we get a car… when we get our church… once all of our finances come in from the sale of our apartment in Russia. Thank you for the reminder that we are to live now.

Yes, we do all play this game. Even though I know better, I’m doing it right now when it comes to getting back to working out. But, I have reached a point in my life where I don’t do it as much – because I am older and, I’ve had experiences that have given me huge wake up calls.

A most excellent post and SO true. I am wasting my life with the “Once I get this weight off….” – no more wasting time. No more looking around and thinking, “Life is passing me by!” Love this post.

No better time than the present. We can’t let life control us, we control our lives…our destiny.

That is so true, and something we’re all guilty of doing sometimes.
If you wait around for things to happen, you’ll wake up one day and find that the best days of your life will have passed you by.
