Power of Positive Mental Attitude

Norman Vincent Peale was famous for his “power of positive thinking”. Some people are turned off by that and say it is a bunch of mumbo jumbo. I myself don’t think it is just a light switch that can be flipped and, TADA! because you think positively, presto! what you want appears.

Positive thinking is not a magic trick. By just thinking positively, things DON’T just appear.

The Power of Negativity

I can tell you this, however, that the opposite is true. If you have a negative attitude, things will start disappearing from your life.

Opportunities, ideas, joy, integrity, peace, friendships, close relationships, and maybe even family members. These things will eventually be pushed away or repelled by negative attitudes.

Positive attitudes, on the other hand, can bring these things above. Not by magic, but your positivity will draw things to you like a magnet.

You are open to change,

You see the good as well as the not-so-good side of things.

You see the potential and aren’t afraid of the hard work it may take to achieve your potential.

How to think positive

One thing that can help you build this positive attitude on a regular basis is gratitude. By being grateful for what you have in your life, for the blessings that have been given to you, it opens your mind to the positivity we are talking about. Many self-help people, authors, speakers, etc, have taught for years the power of affirmations in your life to increase your positive mental attitude. I am going to share some helpful affirmations below, but first, I just have to share this video of a little girl who has not had life beat the gratitude and positivity out of her yet!

Did you hear her at the end? After stating all the things she likes in her life, she says “I can do anything”. How powerful is that?

Here are just a few affirmations you may want to use in your life. It is suggested that you write them on cards and place on your mirror, in your car, on your desk, etc, so that you can see, repeat and affirm several times a day. And, hey, if you want to get animated like this little girl does, GO FOR IT!

I love and accept myself. I understand and accept that my imperfection makes me perfect. Therefore, I am perfect exactly as I am and will remain perfect as I learn and grow.

I am in control of my world and my body. I am responsible for myself. I release this unnecessary stress and allow my body and mind to relax into a comfortable state of being. I am calm and relaxed. I have a positive and optimistic mental attitude.

My mind is powerful. It is an amazing tool that I can use to better my body, my spirit, and my life. Each day, I use this powerful tool wisely.

Creating your own affirmations

You can find affirmations for any subject from any faith just by searching online. One big thing about affirmations is that you state them as “I am…” as if it already is. Very important. Do not say “I want…”
